Autism Center of Excellence in Kitsap County Washington
Winlock Pediatrics LLC was created by Dr Violeta M Gomez FAAP, COE, out of a passion for supporting children and their families through the evaluation and diagnosis of an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Our purpose is to evaluate and establish, or confirm, an ASD diagnosis and develop a multidisciplinary treatment plan suitable for your child.
Dr Gomez’s mission is to provide timely developmental assessments to decrease disparities in early detection and treatment of Autism in all Medicaid eligible children and Hispanic community within Kitsap County.
She has been a caring, compassionate and reliable General Pediatrician for over 16yrs, and has received the Center Of Excellence training authorized by the Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) and the necessary preparations to administer and score the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-2 (ADOS-2) from the University of Minnesota, as well as the STAT™ (Screening Tool for Autism in Toddlers & Young Children) and “Telemedicine-based ASD Assessment in Toddlers (TELE-ASD-PEDS)” from Vanderbilt Kennedy center.
Winlock Pediatrics LLC has partnered with Tiny Notes Music and Movement LLC Enrichment Center in Port Orchard and Poulsbo Parks and Recreation in Poulsbo to offer a safe and comfortable space for when it is necessary to administer a more detailed evaluation.
Winlock Pediatrics is very excited to be learning and working with your family.
Which services do we provide?
At this time Dr Gomez is only able to:
- Evaluate and diagnose Autism Spectrum Disorder, and
- develop the multidisciplinary clinical treatment plan required by the HCA.
Unfortunately we do not offer Autism Therapy Treatments, yet. My vision is that in a few years we can have diagnosis and therapy services under one roof!
- Check Tiny Notes LLC in Port Orchard, they do offer therapy services.
We are currently working with AppleHealth Medicaid patients only.
And this is why?:
- Only COE providers may prescribe ABA therapy for children covered by WA State Medicaid plans. The WA State Health Care Authority decides who has COE status and grants this privilege.
- Currently, other insurance plans do not authorize ABA services for their covered children unless this request is signed by a Neurologist, Psychiatrist, Psychologist or Behavioral Developmental Pediatrician, each insurance plan have different diagnostic requirements.
,
An autism Center of Excellence (COE) is any medical practice, psychology practice, multidisciplinary assessment team or individual health care provider that:
-has received the COE training authorized by the Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA)
-or has been judged by the HCA to be qualified to diagnose autism and write a prescription for Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) services if appropriate.
There are many different ways for children and youth to get a diagnosis of autism. In order for a child or youth to be eligible for ABA therapy through Apple Health/Medicaid, a recognized COE must conduct a comprehensive evaluation, and write an order for Applied Behavior Analysis therapy, within the last two years.
To become a COE, eligible primary care providers need to:
- Complete the COE Certification training
- Return the attestation form to HCA and request to be listed as a COE.
